SOMEONE WHO'LL WATCH OVER ME opens at the Minerva Theatre in Chichester on 10th September 2015.
David Haig returns to Chichester to play Michael, an English academic joined by Adam, an American doctor and Edward, an Irish journalist all locked up together in a cell in the Middle East - victims of political action. They have little to unite them beyond being human and in the same small space. Yet somehow, together, they determine to ward off madness and forestall despair. As the three men wrestle with their differences to develop an extraordinary friendship, we are asked to consider life on the edge of human existence.
Ultimately the play is a celebration of life and humanity.
Based on the experience of those taken hostage in Lebanon in the 1980s, SWWOM is playwright Frank McGuinness's hymn to the defiant power of the human spirit and the creative imagination.
First staged at the Hampstead Theatre in 1992, it transferred to the West End before going on to win the 1993 New York Drama Critic's Circle Award for Best Foreign Play.
SWWOM runs at the Minerva Theatre in Chichester until 10th October 2015. For more information and to book tickets click here.
