Art

10TH DECEMBER 2016 - 18TH FEBRUARY 2017
Design by Mark Thompson.

ART celebrates it's twentieth anniversary this year (2016) and All Scene All Props are thrilled to be part of it. One of the most acclaimed plays of recent times, ART premiered in London twenty years ago and went on to become a phenomenom, winning Moliere, Evening Standard, Olivier and Tony Awards. It ran for eight years and became a West End fixture.
Director Matthew Warchus reunites the entire original creative team to revisit Yasmina Reza's dazzling study of friendship, prejudice and tolerance. Translation by Christopher Hampton. The cast includes Tim Key, Paul Ritter and Rufus Sewell. It also has lighting by Hugh Vanstone, sound by Mic Pool and music by Gary Yershon.
ART, the celebrated satire follows Serge, who splurges on a literal blank canvas that he defends as Modern Art. His friend Marc doesn't see the value. Yvan tries to play peacemaker, but ends up getting caught in the crossfire.

"You can't fault Mark Thompson's marvellous set, which evokes a clear sense of Knightsbridge or Mayfair grandeur, a sense of money and showiness that is indelible. Hugh Vanstone's lighting is immaculate, warming and cooling the space depending upon the heat of the arguments, reflecting blinds in shadows on perfectly painted walls in an echo of the pivotal white painting."   - Stephen Collins, Live Theatre UK

"Mark Thompson's design in keeping with the painting, is minimalist - the set acts as each of the three friends' homes, designated by a specific painting (or lack of one) on the back wall." - Debbie Gilpin, Broadway World UK

ART runs at the Old Vic Theatre from Saturday 10th December until Saturday 18th February 2017. For more information and to book tickets, click here
